BackgroundMy biggest piece of advice to prospective students would be to have an optimistic
attitude coming into college. It is a pretty big lifestyle change so it will
take some time to adjust. Step outside of your comfort zone, meet new people,
and be prepared to take on responsibility. College is a lot of work, but the
rewards are more than worth it!
Hi! I’m Sandra and I’m in my third year majoring in Interdisciplinary Health Administration (aka Health Administration) and minoring in Spanish. I graduated from Holland Christian in 2006. In high school I played basketball and softball and I love getting involved in intramural sports here at Western whenever my schedule allows for it! I’ve switched my major many times so if you have any questions, especially about the College of Health and Human Services, I can help!
I chose Western originally because I wanted to major in nursing and they have a great nursing program. Also, I love the size and diversity of the campus. The location is also great! I live exactly an hour (maybe a little more when the roads are icy) away from WMU. That is the perfect distance because I don’t feel obligated to go home every weekend but it’s also close enough to where I can just head home for a night if I feel like it.
College life is great! I love the freedom and independence I have gained being away from home. I was involved in greek life for two years and met many of my closest friends through that. I lived in the Valleys my freshman year and I loved it! I definitely recommend living in the residence halls for at least one year. I love going to the student recreation center, and playing intra mural sports I also like going to Miller movies and going to the different performances that come to Miller Auditorium, (1/2 priced tickets for students! Oh yeah!)
