BackgroundThe advice I would give to incoming freshmen would be to not stress out. Just have fun, go to class, and balance studying with sleeping (not too hard, right?)
Hi, my name is Rebecca and I’m a freshman here at WMU. I am majoring in Biomedical Sciences and Spanish with a minor in Chemistry. I’m from Grand Rapids, Michigan and attended Grandville High School. I graduated in 2009 and made the decision to come to Western without even having even had a tour, which is cool because now I give tours! I love it here and am so happy that I made the decision to come to WMU.
My choice to come to Western took a long time. It came down to two schools, as I’m sure it is the same for many other perspective students. After being offered a scholarship, I made the decision and I absolutely believe it was the right one. As for my major, I plan on going to medical school and therefore, a biomedical sciences major was what I chose. Spanish will help me along the way with whatever I do, so that’s the reason there.
Here at Western, I am trying to be as involved as possible. I am on my hall
council and in the Honors Student Association as well as working in the
Ambassador office. I live in Ackley hall (the Honors Housing) and I really
enjoy it.
In my free time, I crochet, read and watch movies with my friends.
