BackgroundGet involved, get involved, get involved!!!! Being involved will introduce you to an abundance of new people and these people will become your lifelong friends! Also, always remember the #1 reason why you came here – to learn! College is what you make of it, and if you take advantage of everything WMU has to offer you, you will be successful while having the time of your life! Finally, studies have proven that the semester that you’re the most involved will be the semester you have the highest GPA as well!!!
Hi! Thanks for stopping by! My name’s Matt and I’m from Clinton Township, Michigan. I’m a fifth-year senior here at WMU and will be graduating this April. I came to WMU from Dakota High School in Macomb Township, Michigan – where I graduated in 2005. At Western, I am majoring in business management, while pursuing minors in communication, psychology and general business. This major/minor combination came from a few major changes throughout my time here, but I think I’ve finally figured out what I love!
What made me want to be a Bronco? Everything about this place! I came on a tour of the campus during my senior year in high school. I immediately fell in love with the campus and I knew right then and there that Western Michigan University was the place for me! I even applied right there and was admitted that day in an on-site admission! Everyone that I came in contact with that day was extremely nice and helpful and that still has not changed to this day! The day I was admitted, I was certain on what I wanted to major in – education. As you can tell from reading above, that is no longer the case. Another thing that drew me in was the fact that WMU has accredited programs in pretty much anything that I’ve ever been interested in! So, when I did decide to change majors I didn’t have to change schools! Western has it all!
College life at Western Michigan University has been more than I ever could
have imagined it being! I have made friendships that will last a lifetime here!
I’ve been involved with the Student Ambassador Program since my first
year here at WMU. I’ve also been involved in Drive Safe Kalamazoo, New
Student Orientation, Fall Welcome, First-Year Seminar, and the Western Student
Association! Currently, I am the Fall Welcome Intern for 2010, so I will hopefully
be able to see you all there! I lived in the Valley I (Britton/Hadley) residence
hall my first year, but I have chosen to live off-campus since then to help
me learn to be more independent! In my free time, I like to hang out with my
friends, catch a movie, relax and overall, just have a great time in my time
here at WMU!
