BackgroundLearn how to manage your time before it becomes a problem, don't sweat the small stuff, and above all enjoy your time here and make the most of it because you're only in college once!
Hey everybody! My name is Mandy and I am from Royal Oak, a suburb just north of Detroit. I graduated from Dondero High School in 2005 and now am proud to be a Bronco at WMU!
My college decision was one of the hardest I have made in my life so far. Being a music major, I had to audition at each university I was interested in and be accepted to the school of music as well as the university. I narrowed my choices down to three universities and was accepted to all three of their music schools, which really made things difficult. I had already spent two weeks at Western for a summer music program and I knew that I loved the atmosphere as well as the music program, which was so essential for me. When I visited the other schools, the atmospheres were all wrong and I knew I wouldn't be happy there for the next four years. Along with feeling at home at Western, I felt there was more personal attention and an amazing faculty to teach me. Western had the most complete package for me and I have not once regretted my decision.
College life outside of classes is what keeps me going everyday when school gets too stressful. I am involved here in the Student Ambassador Program where I give tours and answer any questions for prospective Broncos! I am also very involved with the School of Music where I am a member of Sigma Alpha Iota, the music fraternity for women. We do community service for the arts and the community and I have met some of my greatest friends through this organization. Besides that, I love to go out with my friends, practice my music, relax in my house, and SLEEP as much as possible, which isn't always easy to do! GO BRONCOS!
