BackgroundLive in the Valley Residence Halls. They are freshman oriented and you meet amazing new people
Hello! I'm Liz. I'm from a small town on the south-west side of Michigan known as Benton Harbor. I grew up living on Lake Michigan so of course I love water! I graduated from a small school, Lake Michigan Catholic High School, where I know everyone my school. Coming to a big university like Western was a big adjustment for me. Luckily I met a lot of great people in my residence hall and got actively involved on campus. If you have any questions feel free to ask away!
When I applied to colleges, I looked at a lot of websites and listened to presentations held at my high school. I also took tours with my friends on weekends. I ultimately chose Western for two reasons: my first reason was because I was asked to join the Honors College and was awarded scholarship money. My second reason was because Western has one of the best psychology prgorams in the world and is ranked number one in behavior analysis, which is the field of psychology that I am going into. I chose psychology as my study because I want to work with helping people who are suffering from substance abuse. I plan on being a certified psychologist working in a substance abuse clinic.
I'm involved, of course, in Student Ambassadors! I love giving tours and talking about my experiences here at WMU! I'm also heavily involved in Campus Crusade for Christ (CRU). We have campus wide worship once a month and I lead a community group in Valley Three Residence Hall. I'm involved with the Honors Student Associtation (HSA). HSA provides community service events for Honors College Students to get to know each other. My freshman year I lived in Ackley Hall in Valley One. Sophomore year I lived in Zimmerman Hall and junior year I lived in French Hall. I loved living in the residence halls and really wish I still lived there. I've met so many great people and its easy to get involved on campus. There is always something going on in the residence halls. In my free time I play club volleyball at the Student Recreation Center, attend WMU sports events such as hockey, football and volleyball and go to Miller Movies. I also love going to downtown Kalamzoo for Art Hops.
