Advice to those who are considering pursuing your college degree: enjoy it! The experience you get when it comes to classes, activities and organizations outside of class, is one most people don't get. So, make the most of your time here!
Hi, my name is Kyrone Maye, and I am junior from Battle Creek Michigan, majoring in public relations and minoring in history. I graduated high school in 2010, and plan to graduate from Western Michigan University in the spring of 2014. Basketball and baseball are my favorite sports, and I like meeting new people.
I chose Western Michigan University because it far enough from home to get away, but close enough to go back if i ever needed too. My mom is an alumna of Western, so she was pushing for me to pick WMU. I chose public relations as my major because it helps you understand the significance of communication and research, and allows you network with individuals who work in a field of your interest.
College life is amazing! You're able to get involved outside of class with people who are interested in the same things that you are. I am involved an organization called Young Black Male Support Network (YBMSN). We host education and social events for students to attend and also give volunteer opportunities. I'm also a Resident Assistant. We help make sure that your living experience in the resident halls is an experience you can learn from.
