BackgroundI love the residence halls, it’s a great place to meet new people; people that wouldn't necessarily talk to you under other circumstances. I lived in Henry Hall for two years, now I lived off campus. I’m glad I had the opportunity to live in the residences, it was great experience and I recommend everyone to give it a shot.
I am from Farmington Hills, MI, which is a suburb of Detroit. I graduated from West Bloomfield High in 2007, so this is my second year here at WMU. My favorite sport is basketball; I played throughout high school, in all I played basketball for about 8 years. My second favorite sport is football. During my free time I love to hang out with my friends and socialize. I also like to work out whenever I get a chance. I am the middle child of the three and my older brother will soon be an alumnus of Western.
I knew since I was younger that I defiantly wanted to move away from home and go to school. Because I have cousins who graduated from Western, it has always been an option for me at the back of my mind. It wasn’t until my senior year of high when I thought that I wanted to study fashion in college, so I looked up the program here at Western and found out hat our program was a very successful one. Soon then I knew that I would attend Western in the fall of “07”. Even though my major has change I still feel as though I made the right decision.
I am involved in MODA (Merchandising Opportunities Design Association) which
is Western’s registered student organization (RSO). MODA purpose is expose
our very talented student designer’s in the fashions shows we hold every
year. It also gives us practice in event planning, personal relations, and
fundraising. Every spring show we give half of our proceeds to Susan G. Komen
Breast Cancer foundation, since 1998 we have given over $20,000.
