BackgroundMy advice for transfer students like myself is to go in blind with their roommate(s), whether you live on campus in a residence hall or off campus. The scariest thing for me when I came here was not knowing anyone, but this makes it much easier to become acclimated and meet new people. All of the people I am friends with right now are people tht I did not know in high school, but I met in college.
I’m from Romeo, which is a small town on the east side of the Michigan. I graduated from Romeo High School in 2004 and attended Macomb Community College immediately after. While at Macomb, I worked part time as a bank teller, then transferred to Western after 2 years.
When I made the decision to come to Western, it was mainly because of the great reputation of the Behavior Analysis Psychology Program. I also went on a campus tour and felt very comfortable on the campus, and liked everything that Western had to offer. The campus is a perfect size- not too big and not too small.
During my first year here, I became part of the Student Ambassador Program, which I am really enjoying and I am also a member of the Lee Honors College. I hope to attend WMU for graduate school and I'd like to get my Master's Degree in Behavior Analysis. I stay pretty involved academically with my major; I have been a teaching assistant a few times and I am currently a research assistant for one of the graduate students in the Psychology Department.
