About Katelyn

Hey everyone! My name is Katelyn and I am from a suburb of Flint, Michigan called Grand Blanc. I went to Carman-Ainsworth High School and graduated from there in 2007. I am now a Junior here at Western and I LOVE it!

For me, deciding on Western was a very easy choice! I had first heard about Western as being a very good school for Psychology which was my intended major, so I applied. I also sent in applications to Eastern Michigan University, Grand Valley State University, and Central Michigan University. My next step after being accepted was going on campus tours. Visiting Western helped me make my final decision as soon as I walked onto campus. Our campus has a small feel for a larger university, which was exactly what I wanted. I loved the Bronco Pride and the warm welcoming environment Western had to offer. I can’t even remember my tours at the other universities, but I can remember every details of Western’s, which was how I knew it was the home for me!

Get involved as fast as you can you won’t regret it! Besides the Student Ambassador Program I got involved playing on the Western Women’s Lacrosse Club my freshmen year. I have volunteered as a Fall Welcome Ambassador for the past 2 years, which was an awesome experience, and I also just got accepted into the Lee Honors College. I currently live in a house by East Campus, but I lived in the residence halls my first year here. I lived in Garneau Hall in Valley 2. That was once of my best experiences, and how I met many of my very close friends here, and I would definitely tell every student they must spend at least one year in a residence hall! In my free time I enjoy running, especially around our beautiful campus, hanging out with my friends, and reading!
