BackgroundDon’t ever let anyone tell you you can’t achieve something! If
you believe in yourself, there is nothing that can stop you from making your
dreams come true. I know it sounds cheesy, but it’s the truth. So choose
your major according to what you enjoy, and don’t just change it if you
think it’s too hard. Because I know you can do it!
Hi! I’m Elyse and I’m a freshman at Western. I love to read and do yoga, or go to the movies with friends. In high school I was involved in the music program and color guard, as well as the poetry club and book club. I love to have fun! I like puppies and long walks on the beach… and WMU! GO Broncos!
For me, the college decision process was really difficult. I was so stressed during my senior year about it, I think I must have applied to eight Michigan universities. In the end, I knew that WMU was the only place for me. There are so many choices here; and it’s the only Michigan school with a college of Aviation. I thought, “Well, if they have it I might as well try it,” so here I am! I have a passion for learning new and different things, and nothing is so new and different as flying.
At first, I was afraid of getting lost in a big school. But if you are worried,
don’t be! There are so many things to do here it is not at all hard to
find your niche. Since I chose the specialty housing for aviation in Henry
Hall (I highly recommend it!). I already feel very connected to other students
in my own major. I’ve also decided to join Women in Aviation, but know
that guys are welcome too! I’m also a part of the Lee Honors College,
which by the way is a great place to study and relax. But there’s always
something going on in the Residence Halls, even if we’re just watching
TV in the laundry room, so life at Western is never boring!
