BackgroundThe thing that was hardest for me to transition into while starting off here at WMU was productively using my time. While at Western or any other college you have a lot of free time, in between your classes, at night and on the weekends. Budgeting this time and using it effectively will help you out so much. By making sure that I was using my time effectively I was actually able to fit more things in and not create more stress in my life.
Hey everyone, my name is Courtney and I’m a junior here at WMU. I come from a pretty small town about 20 minutes away from campus. I went to Gull Lake Schools and graduated from there in 2008.
When trying to decide where I wanted to go to school at I realized I didn’t know where to start. I hadn’t put too much thought into it until my senior year rolled around. Eventually a few schools ended up on my list, such as WMU, GVSU, and CMU. I also thought about going down to FSU. I toured both Western and Grand Valley, and after both those tours I pretty much knew automatically where I wanted to be. Western was friendly, helpful and has an amazing business program. There isn’t a day where I think to myself that I regret this decision, and I am so glad I became a BRONCO!
During the school year there are three main things that I’m involved
in… school, work and sports. The school and work are pretty much
self explanatory and those two take up most of my time. But I play intramural
sports
and I LOVE it. :) While in high school and even younger than that I was
always playing sports, mainly soccer and volleyball. It’s been
great to have the opportunity to still play the sports I love. Besides
sports I
spend my
free time with my friends and every once in a while I go home, because
believe it or not I actually start to miss my family.
