Even though I have never lived on campus, as a freshman coming in, living in the dorms is one of the best ways to meet people, get involved and excel in school. I say this because moving to college is a life changer and you're not alone. Moving away is hard and it's even more of a challenge to make new friends sometime. Being a part of an atmosphere like that with other people is an amazing way to meet people.
Also, take school seriously! Although college is a place to have fun and experience new things, your parents or you pay a lot of money for you to be here. Being active in school is going to bring you great success in the future.
Hello, my name is Christopher. I grew up in Redford Township on the east side of Michigan, which is about 10 minutes out from Detroit. There are two high schools in Redford, one being Redford Thurston High School where I spent my four years being a proud Thurston Eagle and bleeding the white and blue colors. And Redford Union, which was our big rival. Between the two schools we enjoyed nothing more than competition for bragging rights, whether it was in school sports or a pickup game on the weekend. I graduated from Thurston in 2011 and set my eyes on Western Michigan University. But before that, I studied for a year at Schoolcraft Community College, where I took some pre requisites and thought about my major.
Out of high school I planned to attend Michigan State and swim for them, but after being so into airplanes I set my ambitions on flying planes. I came and took a tour of the amazing aviation campus here at Western Michigan University in Battle Creek. I loved it so much that I decided I wanted to take my talents into the aviation program. After a year of community college, I transferred to Western ready to get my career track started. Three days before class started I decided that aviation was not the best fit anymore for various reasons. After changing my mind on my major two times, I have settled down in business. I like what a business career has to offer for me and I am excited to be a part of it. The Business College is a well know institution here at Western Michigan and after the professors I have had I would recommend the Business College here to any one in search of a great education.
College life has been a thrill ride for me so far. Right off the bat, after getting accepted into Western Michigan University, I decided to live off campus. Living off of campus has been great for me and it fits my type of personality. My first semester here I knew I wanted to get involved but never knew how. Looking things up and talking to friends who were already in organizations took me to the next level. During my second semester here I was hired to be a Student Ambassador, which is an amazing job to hold on campus. Inside the role of being a Student Ambassador one of my coworkers and friend asked me to rush Phi Gamma Delta. I was very interested in going Greek life and after meeting the guys of FIJI (Phi Gamma Delta) I was hooked and knew that I wanted to share the bond of brotherhood with them. As my free time goes, I enjoy working out and being outside. One of the best ways of getting stress out is heading down to the student recreation center and hitting the gym.
