Background
My advice to freshmen would be to take chances, meet new people, and prepare
for the future.
Hi! My name is Bethany and I am a sophomore here at Western. I am from Zeeland, Michigan and I graduated from Zeeland West High school in 2006. In high school I was involved in student government as well as dance and drama.
I chose to come to Western for many reasons. As a major university, Western has so many opportunities to offer its students! I knew that whatever I wanted to do, I would be able to do it at Western. For me, Western is the perfect distance from home. My family lives about an hour away which is close enough for me to come and go as I need to, but also far enough away to be on my own. I was also drawn to Western after seeing the Heath and Human Services Building, where I knew I would be spending most of my time as a nursing student. This new facility features state of the art technology and is a beautiful environment to learn in. A final deciding factor for me was the scholarship money I received, so send in those applications!
During my time at Western I have been involved in the Student Alumni Association
where I was on the executive board for a semester. I have also been involved
in campus ministries such as College Life as well as The Gathering. These both
have been great experiences for me. Since moving to Kalamazoo. I have lived
in the residence halls. That is a great way to meet new people, make new friends,
and get involved around campus.
