BackgroundMy advice for incoming freshman is to GET INVOLVED!!! Also, practice time
management skills now, because you will definitely need them when you get to
college!
Hey! My name is Barbie and I graduated in 2009 from Hastings High School. My graduating class was about 200 students so I came from a fairly average school. In high school I was involved in Student Council, Fellowship of the Christian Athletes, Excel Club, Pride Club, Varsity Golf and Varsity Tennis. This is my second year at WMU and I love it! GO BRONCOS! I am majoring in Biomedical Sciences and plan to specialize in neurology.
As a high school senior I had four colleges that I was looking to possible attend. I applied to all four of them and got accepted. I really didn’t know what to look for in a college, so I took a tour of each campus. On the tour for Western Michigan University I fell in LOVE. Western accommodated me so well and catered to each of my personal needs. I really felt like I belonged to a family. So, obviously I choose to attend WMU and have not regretted it since! I am majoring in Biomedical Sciences primarily to become a specialist in neurology. I love biology and the medical field, so it just made sense for me to pursue a career in Biomedical Sciences!
I am involved in the Christian organization His House. We care for all students and have a special interest in international students. In my free time I am a “conversation partner” with international students. This is a fun activity and we always need students to get involved! I also am involved with the Lee Honors College. It is such a great opportunity to get involved. The Lee Honors College is full of so many awesome people its impossible not to love them!! I love going to WMU sporting events and being a BRONCO!!
