BackgroundIf I could give any advice it would be to come to college and strive to be something bigger than what you were before you came. This is a great experience so don’t hold back. Come to college to get involved, meet new friends, and most importantly STAY ON TRACK!
Hey Hey Hey! Okay so when I say I’m from a small town in Michigan I most certainly am, Pleasant Ridge (suburb of Detroit). I went to Ferndale High School and graduated in 2005. I am the youngest in my family and probably the most energetic. I like to be around lots of people for a good laugh and make others get a smile in as well. Getting involved and being able to make someone’s day is what I live for!
Now that I’m at Western Michigan University I wouldn’t trade my decision for anything. I’m a strong believer that everything happens for a reason and Western is definitely what was right for me. The college is not too small and not too big, just right! That for sure made making the decision to become a Bronco a lot easier. I actually heard a presentation from a young lady that went into the field of social psychology and loved it a lot! She drew me in with her passion for the major and as I thought about it more and more I really could see myself working in the same field. So after hearing that and coming to visit Western, I knew it was a great choice.
I’m a part of a group called You Beautiful Black Women (YBBW) It’s more of a support network than anything. We work together to support each other in all aspects of life. It’s really something that I’ve grown to utilize and love. The Resident Assistants are great to talk to if you ever need anything, there is always an activity happening in your residence hall, and if not yours then for sure the one next door. Living in a residence hall allows you to mingle and meet with people outside your circle of friends, and it even allows you to make long lasting ones as well. I know in my free time my friends and I either participate in the activities going on around our residence hall or we find something on campus to participate in. Besides hanging with my friends I enjoy relaxing, shopping, or just watching a good movie.
