Advice for Freshman

My advice for future broncos is to just be yourself. At Western it's your time to shine. Take advantage of all opportunities, set a goal and go for it. It's always a great day to be a bronco.

About Angela Y

I'm Angela and I'm very happy to be a bronco!! I'm fun, outgoing and I enjoy being a student at a great University. I'm currently going into my junior year at WMU and I'm from Lansing, MI. I graduated from East Lansing High School in 2010. Each year at Western is better than the last.

When it came to deciding on colleges, I waited until the last minute to decide. I knew I wanted to go to college I just didn't know where. I applied to four schools including Western Michigan and it just happened to be the only one I toured. When I came on the tour of WMU's campus, I fell in love, I saw myself at Western for the next 4 or 5 years of my life. I felt so comfortable and excited while on the tour and I just knew this was where I wanted to be. I've always loved math and helping others so I knew I wanted to be a math teacher and WMU's teaching program is absolutely amazing. Since I was already accepted, it was official; I knew I was a bronco.

The best part of WMU is the people! In my opinion campus life is simply the best. There are so many different organizations to get involved in and there's always something going on around campus. Also, everyone is so friendly and welcoming. I've experienced many different activities on campus, from intermural soccer to YBBW and organization empowering young women of all races. I've also got to experience living in the residence halls for the past two years and I loved it and I've made so many great friends. Living on campus is so convenient, I was never late to class, I never went hungry thanks to all the meal plan choices and the resources of life on campus are just awesome. I never was bored living on campus. I studied, worked out at the Student Recreation Center, hung out with friends, ate in the cafeteria and no matter what I was doing I was having fun.
