Background
The best advice that I give anyone new to college is get involved on campus in different groups. Being involved on campus really makes the transition to college really easy.
Hi my names Adam and I'm from Waterloo, IN. Waterloo is a small town in northeast Indiana, about half an hour South of Michigan and half an hour West of Ohio. I graduated from DeKalb High School in 2012. I am currently studying dietetics and pre-med with minors in biology and chemistry.
When looking at different colleges, I really narrowed down my choices about where to go based a lot on the tours I took at those colleges. In all I think I visited around 4 different colleges, mostly in Indiana. I finally decided on Western when I took a tour here and really liked the campus and all the students I had met on my tour Western really made me feel like Western was the place for me. I chose my majors because I really like helping people, and I like food so helping people make good choices with food seemed like a good fit for me. Also, I have always been interested in the medical side of things so that's what got me interested in pre-med and medical school.
College life here at Western is really involved and I stay really busy. I am currently involved with the Student Dietetic Association here on campus and with my areas of study. I was worried that I was not going to adjust well to college life, but as it turns out, Western does a great job at getting students involved and making them feel welcome. In my free time (the little that I have) I enjoy watching movies and skiing on occasion.
