Mushtaq Luqmani is a professor of marketing and international business and currently serves as the chair of the Department of Marketing. He has a B.S. in chemical engineering from Indiana Institute of Technology and a Ph.D in Marketing from Michigan State University with minors in International Business and Logistics. He has been a visiting professor at several universities including the University of Petroleum and Minerals, Michigan State University, Universiti Kebaangsan Malaysia, Sookmyung University Korea and Quaid-e-Azam University.
Luqmani's dissertation work focused on improving food distribution systems in emerging markets. His primary teaching area since joining WMU in 1977 has been purchasing management and sourcing. His current research and scholarly interests are in the areas of international marketing channels, supply chain management, global sourcing and sustainability. He has published more than 80 articles in scholarly journals and venues including in Business Horizons, International Journal of Physical Distribution and Materials Management, Leadership and Organizational Development, International Journal of Management, International Marketing Review, Journal of International Marketing and Marketing Research and Journal of Marketing Channels. He has served as an editor of the Journal of Asia-Pacific Business and as a member of the editorial advisory boards of several other journals. He has consulted for domestic and multinational companies and served as a United Nations TOKTEN expert. He is a past president of the West Michigan Chapter of the American Marketing Association, an elected member of Who's Who in the Midwest and a member of the Kalamazoo Rotary Club.
