All Western Michigan University students enrolled in a study abroad program will be covered by GeoBlue international health, natural disaster, security and political evacuation, and emergency insurance. The cost of the insurance is included in the WMU program fee; students participating in non-WMU programs will be billed separately for the insurance on their student account. WMU Study Abroad will enroll each student in the GeoBlue insurance for the official program dates. Should you decide to change your departure or return dates, or wish to purchase an individual plan for personal travel before or after your study abroad program, see the information about an individual insurance plan below.

Per University policy, private insurance or coverage through a non-WMU study abroad provider will not be accepted to replace the WMU study abroad insurance plan. During the orientation meeting for your program, Study Abroad will provide a proof of coverage card and the GeoBlue health insurance brochure. If not required to attend a predeparture orientation, these documents will be uploaded to your Broncos Abroad program application.
