The Language and Literacy for Diverse Populations Project was a personnel preparation project designed to increase the number of fully qualified professionals from traditionally underrepresented ethnic/racial or disability groups who are prepared to:
- Support the acquisition of oral and written language abilities needed for school success
- Collaborate with diverse families and educational agencies
- Help students residing in poor underserved areas, and those with disabilities from preschool through adolescence acquire language and literacy skills for success in inclusive academic and social settings
