Western Michigan University purchases basic medical insurance to cover the program's participants while they are abroad. Information regarding this coverage will be distributed to each student by the Study Abroad Office upon acceptance into the program. Students will receive health insurance information outlining the extent of coverage and the procedures to follow in case of accident or illness abroad. Additional health insurance coverage is not required for the program, but students may wish to purchase supplementary coverage. The WMU President's Grant for Study Abroad award is given on the basis of demonstrated financial need and/or merit. For students accepted to the Buenos Aires program, the application process for the this grant is quite simple. Application for this grant may be made at the time of application to the program and does not require additional faculty recommendations or essays. Applications are available online through the Study Abroad website. They must be submitted to Study Abroad, B-200 Ellsworth Hall (269) 387-5890.
