A film discussion will precede each showing. Join us to enjoy these entertaining films, practice your language skills and learn more about Hispanic culture.

diadelosmuertosFrom October 29 to 31, the Department of Spanish, in collaboration with the Division of Multicultural Affairs and Waldo Library, will exhibit an pdf icon "Altar de muertos" on the second floor of Waldo Library. The altar is made to honor the deceased and is part of the Mexican Holiday and Mesoamerican tradition of the Day of the Dead or "Día de los muertos." This celebration traces its origins to indigenous observances dating back hundreds of years and to an Aztec festival dedicated to the goddess Mictecacihuatl. This year the altar is dedicated to our beloved colleague and professor Dr. Carolyn Harris. Visit the Waldo Library and learn more about this fascinating tradition!
