MPA: How to Apply

Admissions Process

Materials to be Submitted to the Admissions Office

  1. The Application for Graduate Admission or Submit Online
  2. A $40.00 non-refundable application fee payable to Western Michigan University
  3. An official transcript from each undergraduate and graduate institution you have attended except for WMU

Applicants may submit the Application for Graduate Admission online. Online applications can be completed by following the appropriate links on the Graduate Admissions application webpage.

Materials to be Submitted to the School of Public Affairs and Administration Office

  1. The Departmental Information Form (DIF)
  2. Your responses to both departmental essay questions
  3. A comprehensive resume
  4. Two (2) letters of recommendation to be submitted to the admissions committee separately from the student's application by the author of the letter (to the address below)

Applicants may submit required departmental materials (items 1, 2, and 3 above) online here. As noted above, the Application for Graduate Admission may also be filled out online here (NOTE: the online Application for Graduate Admission only needs to be filled out once).
