Criminal Justice Major: Special Law Enforcement Certification
Students have the option to enroll in the Law Enforcement Certification Program in cooperation with Kalamazoo Valley Community College. In fulfillment of the Law Enforcement Certification Program, students must complete the required courses (but not the elective courses) for the criminal justice major. They must also apply for admission into the Law Enforcement Certification Program. Students admitted into the program will complete the required courses during their last two semesters at WMU. The following courses at Kalamazoo Valley Community College are required in the program and will be taken in place of the elective courses for the criminal justice major.
SOC 2610: Traffic (4 credit hours)
SOC 2610: Patrol Procedures (4 credit hours)
SOC 2610: Medical First Responder for Law Enforcement (3 credit hours)
SOC 2610: Criminal Law and Procedures (4 credit hours)
SOC 2610: Introduction to Marksmanship (2 credit hours)
SOC 2610: Criminal Investigation (4 credit hours)
SOC 2610: Emergency Vehicle Operation (2 credit hours)
SOC 2610: Police Physical Skills (4 credit hours)
SOC 2610: Firearms (4 credit hours)
SOC 2610: Police Practical Problems (3 credit hours)
Students are required to take 3 hours of elective coursework and can count 6 hours for electives from the Police Academy. Please consult the undergraduate advisor.
