Herman was looking for a college that could give him the adequate training and people skills he needs to take on the real world. He visited a few, but he chose one: Western Michigan University.
He first heard of Western through his high school, and it intrigued him—particularly because he’s interested in mechanical engineering and Western’s engineering program impressed him very much.
“I’ve always been a math and science geek,” Herman says. When he visited WMU, he talked with faculty about the engineering program, notably Dr. Sang and Dr. Klein, who helped Herman realize this is where he wants to be.
In high school, Herman refused to take it easy. He took challenging classes and achieved good grades, which is exactly what he’s planning to do at Western. On top of it all, he plans to change the world by “Being the best person I can be.”
