Western Michigan Universtiy
Sports Medicine Clinic

The Western Michigan University Sports Medicine Clinic provides comprehensive evaluation and treatment of musculoskeletal injuries, repetitive trauma, pain and/or dysfunction. Our goal is to safely return an individual to activity as soon as possible. WMU Sports Medicine Clinic is staffed by Certified Sports Medicine Physicians, Orthopedic Surgeons, a Podiatrist, Certified Athletic Trainers, and licensed Physical Therapists. Services are open to WMU students, faculty, and staff, as well as to individuals of the Soutwest Michigan community.

Why "Sports Medicine?"
Sports Medicine refers to the type of treatment philosophy we employ rather than the type of individual we treat. While we do see competitive athletes and weekend warriors, many of our patients do not fall into these categories. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO BE AN ATHLETE TO BE SEEN AT THE WMU SPORTS MEDICINE CLINIC.

Sports medicine evolved as a medical specialty from the need of athletes to quickly rehabilitate injuries and get back INTO ACTION as soon as possible and at the same time return to a very high functional activity level. Athletes were returning to vigorous levels of competition much sooner than the general population was even able to return to standard activities. Today, we employ this treatment philosophy with all our patients: whether your goal is to run a 5k, to go up a flight of stairs, or to lift your 8-month old child. We understand your desire is to quickly and safely return to your activities.
