Group Counseling

The Counseling Center offers several groups open to current WMU students. Most groups meet weekly, and are open to new participants.

Call the Counseling Center at 387-1850 if you are interested in participating. You'll have a brief pre-screen appointment with a counselor prior to participation.

body image group

Body Image

For female students 18 years old or older who would like to explore body image and eating issues in a group with their peers. This group is not suitable for women with highly symptomatic eating disorders; women with diagnosed eating disorders must be receiving counseling services and primary medical care.

Chillax

Learn to manage stress and anxiety by applying mindfulness techniques to make everyday life more calm and open to enjoyment. For students who feel their stress and anxiety make coping difficult.

Common Bond

The focus of Common Bond is to assist the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, questioning and allied student population with a safe, confidential space to talk about any of life’s issues or worries. These might include academic pressure, relationship concerns, coming out, dating, image, spirituality, and more. The Common Bond group is a safe zone where students, regardless of sexual orientation, can share experiences and support for one another.
