Virus and Hoax Information

You may receive e-mail messages reporting new viruses and urging you to forward a warning to everyone you know. Please do not do this. When OIT believes that a virus warning is needed, it will be sent out by robert.johnson@wmich.edu

There are also a lot of other hoaxes being passed around by e-mail. Most are essentially "chain-mail". They may promise money, or a free trip, or a free computer if you forward lots of copies, or to send lots of e-mail or greeting cards to someone dying of cancer. These are almost always either hoaxes, or urban legends.
