SFC Douglas A. Merritt

TRAINING NCO

Sergeant First Class Douglas A. Merritt Sergeant First Class Merritt was born in Nashville, Tennessee. He was raised in both Philadelphia and Harrisburg Pennsylvania. He graduated from Susquehanna Township High School in 1990 and enlisted in the United States Army.

His previous assignments include A/1-12 Calvary Fort Knox, Kentucky where he assisted the training of new lieutenants in the Armor Officer Basic Course. D/1-4 INF where he was a Tank Gunner and Tank Commander of the opposing forces for the Combat Maneuver Training Center in Hohenfels Germany. A/1-67 Armor where he was a Tank Commander and Platoon Sergeant in Fort Hood, Texas. Atlanta Recruiting Battalion in Marietta, Georgia where he served as Assistant Station Commander and Field Recruiter. 7th Army Training Center as the Non-Commissioned Officer in charge of the Training Support Activity Europe(TSAE) branch of the Directorate of Training. C/1-63 Armor, where he served as a Platoon Sergeant in Vilseck, Germany.

His military education includes the Primary Leadership Development Course, Basic Non-Commisioned Officer Course, Advanced Non-Commisioned Officer Course and the Army Recruiter Course. Sergeant First Class Merritt has completed various Instructor and Assistant Instructor Courses throughout his tenure in the U.S. Army.

SFC Merritt's awards and decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal ( 6 OLC) Army Achievement Medal (7 OLC), Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Non Commisioned-Officer Professional Development ribbon with numeral 3 device and Overseas Ribbon.
