Budget Guidelines
After drafting your proposal, prepare a budget.
The budget is the translation of the work plan into dollars and cents. Preparing a budget can be very complex and should be started early in the grant process to avoid problems. Consult your WMU research officer for assistance.
Research faculty need to
- determine what the project will need once funded for a grant or contract
- project such expenses as fringe rates and tuition rates over the life of the grant
- present expenses in two major categories: Personnel Services; and, Other than Personnel Services
- before discussing the project with a potential subcontractor, speak with your WMU research officer. Subcontracts are any purchase of services or program-related tasks
