Dr. Kohler comes to OVPR with a wealth of funded research experience to the position of Associate Vice President for Research. She has a background in business administration, educational leadership, vocational education and special education. Dr. Kohler is widely recognized for her research regarding effective transition practices for youth with disabilities.
Dr. Kohler's research focuses on Identifying and analyzing students' post-school outcomes and effective secondary education practices, understanding effects of career development on post-school outcomes; and identifying and evaluating strategies for implementing and sustaining research-based practices.
Dr. Kohler is widely recognized for her research regarding effective transition practices for youth with disabilities, including effective transition programs, transition-related competencies, career and technical experiences, and work-based education. Her work on "Taxonomy for Transition Programming" is recognized around the United States as an effective model for planning, implementing and evaluating transition-focused education for students with disabilities.
