There are four reasons the University will not allow course registration. If you...
There are three ways in which to view/print your schedule. The Student Detail Schedule is an overview of the courses including days, times, and location in a columnar form. The “Week at a Glance” is a graphic representation of your weekly course schedule. The Concise Student view is a condensed, easy to print view of your schedule.
Closed/canceled courses: When a course receives the maximum number of registrations allowed, the system will close the section. Also, courses may be canceled by departments for other reasons.
Corequisite error: Corequisites are two different courses that must be taken during the same semester. When registering for Corequisite courses the CRNs must be submitted at the same time.
Duplicate course: The registration system will not permit students to enroll in more than one section of the same course. In cases where enrollment in duplicate sections is appropriate, (e.g., multi-topic courses), the student must contact the department office for approval.
Invalid Course Reference Number (CRN): If you enter an invalid course CRN, you will receive an error message “CRN does not exist”. Check the number by selecting the “Search for Courses” link.
Linked courses: Linked courses are two different sections of the same course that must be taken concurrently. When registering for linked (e.g., one lecture, one lab) courses the CRNs must be submitted at the same time.
Major/minor restrictions: Some courses are restricted for certain majors or minors. If you wish to change your major, you must contact the appropriate department.
Permission required: Certain courses require departmental, advisor, or instructor approval before they may be elected. You must contact the appropriate department in order to obtain approval to register for these courses.
Time conflicts: The registration system will not permit students to enroll in courses which create time conflicts.
University holds: Certain circumstances will prevent you from registering (e.g. if you have an outstanding balance, have been academically dismissed, etc.). If there is a University hold on your account, the system will give you information on which office to contact regarding the hold.
The registration system enforces the following:
• prerequisites
• co requisites
• time conflicts
• duplicate courses
Questions regarding prerequisites should be directed to the department offering the course. ^ to submenu^
Students are encouraged to read Registration Drop/Add policy specific to each semester or session in which you intend to register. You may also want to familiarize yourself with the Registration Definitions. They can prove to be helpful in answering questions such as linked courses, time conflicts, or what to do in the event of a closed section.
Please do not attempt to register before your assigned priority day.
Clear any holds you may have on your student record before your time to register. The registration system will not allow registration if you have any outstanding financial or academic holds. If you have a hold on your student record the web registration system will direct you to the appropriate office for information.
Students are encouraged to review the Final Examination Week Schedule when enrolling for Fall or Spring courses. Be aware that exam meeting times are different from the regularly scheduled class time.
Final exams for summer session courses are held during the regularly scheduled class meeting time.
Students are responsible for their registration and any subsequent withdrawal from courses. Students who do not attend or complete their courses must withdraw by the established deadlines or be subject to failing grades and/or tuition and fee charges.
