Course offerings for spring are available today, both on the public website, https://www.wmich.edu/classlookup, and on the course offerings page within GoWMU.
Registration opens on Monday, Oct. 15. The priority registration schedule can be found at: http://www.wmich.edu/registrar/calendars/timeticketSpring.html
There are a couple new features in the class lookup that you might find helpful. Course descriptions have been included on each course beginning with the Spring 2013 semester going forward. A link to the catalog is provided for course descriptions for prior semesters. The course description can be viewed by clicking on the CRN.
Another new feature is the addition of section numbers. This was added based on feedback from advisors. This will be especially beneficial for those sections that are designated as lecture/lab or a specific student group
New students who attended orientation this summer were asked to complete three online modules (Academic Success Choices, Financial Literacy 101 and AlcoholEdu) by August 24. Tomorrow a registration hold will be placed on students who have not yet completed all three modules. If you see a “FY hold type on a student’s record, please encourage them to complete the on-line modules. First Year Experience will be reviewing reports daily and will remove the hold when modules are completed. Please refer any questions on this hold to the First Year Experience Office at 269-387-2167.
Reserved seating is a feature in Banner that allows departments to allocate seats to a specific population of students. We are conducting a pilot for the Spring 2013 semester to evaluate the potential benefits for use at WMU. So, you may notice reserve seating totals appearing on certain sections. The reserved seating rules are set up on the SSASECT from using the “Reserved Seats” tab located under “Section Enrollment”. Reserved seating counts can be viewed in GoWMU on the “Class Schedule List” by clicking on the course title. More information on reserved seating can be found on the Registrar’s Office website at: http://www.wmich.edu/registrar/faculty-staff/index.html.
