A reminder that August 1 is the deadline for students to submit their graduation audit for December commencement. Undergraduate students should complete their graduation audit in the college advising office and return it to the Registrar’s Office. Applications for graduate students can be obtained in the Registrar’s Office or on our website.
Census numbers for Summer II have been released by the Office of Institutional Research and can be found at:
http://www.wmich.edu/ir/reports.php?type=enrollment&year=2012
Our Summer II 2012 enrollment is 6,612, which represents an increase of 62 students or 0.9% from Summer II 2011.
A record number of sections have been enabled for waitlisting this fall. So far, waitlisting is available for students in 644 sections. Waitlisting allows students to reserve a “place in line” in closed sections. Instead of having to continuously check GoWMU to see if a seat is available, students will receive an e-mail notification when there is an opening.
From a department perspective, waitlisting reduces requests for course overloads by putting the responsibility on the student to get on the waitlist. Waitlisting also allows departments to monitor demand for a course and can help in determining if there is enough interest to warrant adding an additional section.
If you would like to add the waitlist option to a Fall 2012 section, it isn’t too late. Just submit a pink sheet to the Registrar's Office. If you would like more information on waitlisting, please contact me.
