Please remind seniors graduating this semester to reserve their commencement tickets by Wednesday, April 11 if they plan to attend the graduation ceremony. The RSVP form can be found in GoWMU. Reserved tickets will be available for pick up in Textbook Alley beginning Monday, April 23 through Saturday, April 28.
Priority registration ended last Wednesday. All current students are eligible to register for Fall 2012 courses.
As we approach the end of the semester, student stress and anxiety tends to increase. Faculty or staff who are concerned about a student can report this using the Student Concern Form. Information recorded on the form is confidential and goes directly to the Dean of Students Office. They will review the concern and will follow up with the student. There is a link to the student concern form on the Faculty menu in GoWMU or you can go directly to: http://wwwwmichedu/students/healthhtml.
FERPA prohibits the release of non-directory information over the telephone to a third party, but it does not preclude an institution from disclosing non-directory information to a student over the telephone. However, precautions must be taken to verify the student’s identify and information can only be disclosed if you are confident that you are speaking directly with the student. Questions, whose response would only be known by the student, could be asked as a way to authenticate an individual’s identity. The questions should be very specific to the student and ones only the student should know the answers to. Some suggested questions include:
The identifying questions should be correctly answered by the student calling before any personally identifiable information is provided via the telephone. If you have any concerns as to whom you are talking to, then you should not disclose any information.
