They’ll be here soon! A team from the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) will be on campus Monday, October 18 through Wednesday, Oct. 20 to conduct WMU’s 10 year accreditation review. Much more information, including our self-study report, can be found on http://www.wmich.edu/hlc.
Information on the team that will visit us is also available on this website, as is much information about the process as a whole. This is the institutional accreditation visit, which occurs on a ten year cycle.
Registration for spring will open next Monday, Oct. 18, at 8:00 am. As usual we begin with graduate students, then follow the priority schedule. The priority schedule for registration can be found on http://www.wmich.edu/registrar/calendars/timeticketSpring.html.
The registration booklet for spring is also available on the Registrar’s website, see: http://www.wmich.edu/registrar/pdf/Semesters/spring2011.pdf.
If you are looking ahead to final exams for spring, the schedule is also online, both in the booklet mentioned above, and on the calendars page of the Registrar’s website.
Please encourage your students to meet with their advisor as necessary prior to their time to register, and to clear any holds that they may have on their account.
Students will be able to receive up to four guest tickets for commencement. The RSVP system is now open, with a deadline of Dec 7 for students to respond.
The fall semi-annual security reauthorization will take place October 25-November 5. Agreement letters will be put in campus mail on October 25, so you should have them a day or two after that. Signed letters need to be returned to the Registrar’s Office by end of day on November 5. Accounts of those who have not returned signed agreement letters will be locked after that date.
In preparation, please review all of your faculty who have advisor access. You can do this through Cognos. Go to Public Folders>Advisor-Security Assignments>DEPT:Personnel With Advisor Access:001. The report can be run by department.
Remember that faculty should have advisor access only if they perform in an advising capacity during the current semester. Please remove the access for those who are not performing this function this semester. This will make the reauthorization go much smoother for everyone.
Thanks for your cooperation.
Have a great week,
