This fall midterm grading will be opened on September 8, the first day of fall classes. Instructors will be encouraged to submit a first grade, an exam, paper, or the result of a group of work, by October 4. Advisors will follow up with those students whose ‘first grade’ puts them at academic risk. This is an effort to provide early feedback to students. While midterm grading has been effective in the past few years, students with poor or failing grades at midterm often have little choice but to withdraw from the course. Earlier intervention may assist in retention of these students.
Instructors will then have the opportunity to update this ‘first grade’ with a midterm grade by Nov. 1. Midterm grading will be closed at 8:00 on Monday, Nov. 2.
Note that Monday, Nov. 9 is the last day students can withdraw from fall classes.
The four-digit keypad codes to rooms in Dunbar, Kohrman, Moore, Sangren and Wood have been changed. Building coordinators will be notifying department staff and instructors. If there are any questions, please let me know.
Please do all you can to ensure that students are registered prior to census, including graduate enrollment, enrollments in independent studies, practicums, internships, seminars, etc. It’s to our benefit to do so, so that we count all students and credit hours in our census count on Sept. 15.
Please do not override any holds when registering students on SFAREGS. Please view the holds on SOAHOLD and make sure the holds are taken care of before registering students. If you have any questions on accounts regarding an AR hold (Accounts Receivable), A1 hold (Must Pay for Services When Due-Need Payment Agreement), or CO hold (collections hold), please call the Accounts Receivable office at 387-4141.
Have a great week,
