The Spring 2009 schedule is available for viewing. The public website is now a link on http://www.wmich.edu. Look for ‘Course Offerings’ on the left hand list of links.
A reminder on two relatively new cognos reports available to assist with course planning. Located in the Registration Audit folder, the two reports are ‘Closed Sections’ and ‘Registration Audit’.
The first report, ‘Closed Sections’ will give a list of all unique failed registration attempts for sections by subject. This will provide a way for departments to be aware of the demand for their courses. The prompts to run this report are term, then subject.
The second report, ‘Registration Audit’, generates a list of all unique registration errors for each section. These include prereq errors, time conflicts, and duplicate course errors.
As we did with registration for this fall, we again will be forcing students to update their permanent address and their emergency contact information through GoWMU. This feature is tied to registration, so when a student clicks on any of the links, within SSB, to course offerings, to add or drop a course, etc., they will get a screen which asks them to verify their address information. If they do not have a permanent address, and/or emergency contact information, they will have to enter it. Once they have done so, they can click the submit button and be done.
This will become active beginning on October 1st. Students will only see this once during the registration period for spring. Questions should be directed to the Registrar’s Office, 387-4300, or registrar-info@wmich.edu.
I understand that there were some technical issues with this new site this week. These have been corrected and it is functioning, so I’ve been asked to pass this information on again:
A new online form has been developed for faculty, staff and students to share their concerns about a student whose behavior is troubling and persists despite efforts to intervene. Information recorded on the form, which is confidential, goes to the office of the associate dean of students, who reviews the concerns and determines the next steps to take. In addition to calling or sending an e-mail to the associate dean of students, this form provides another avenue through which concerns can be expressed. The link is http://www.studentworld.wmich.edu/health.html. Click on the link to 'Student Concern Form' on the upper right of this page. You will be asked to enter your Bronco NetID and password. This is the ID and password used to access GoWMU.
I ask that you share this information with faculty and staff in your area. Questions should go to the Office of the Associate Dean of Students.
Midterm grading for fall 2008 will open on Monday, October 6th. Instructors can submit midterm grades through GoWMU in the same way final grades are submitted. Look for the link to the midterm grading worksheet in the My Work channel. Faculty should note that unlike final grades, midterm grades are available for students to view as soon as they submitted. Again, we do not track midterm grades; they are not part of students’ academic history at WMU.
While there is a standing WMU group which meets regularly on emergency preparedness, there is also a group which has been meeting the past year and continues to meet, in preparation for the possibility of a pandemic flu. For more information, see the Emergency Preparedness website: http://www.obf.wmich.edu/safety/pandemic_preparedness.html.
