Fall Welcome week begins today as we welcome about 3100 new freshmen to campus. The full schedule of the week’s events can be found on www.wmich.edu/fye/fallwelcome.
Convocation on Wednesday morning is the official kick-off to Fall Welcome 2008 with a special welcome from President Dunn, followed by welcoming comments by Dr. Steve Rhodes, Director of the School of Communication.
A summary, for instructors, of important beginning of the semester information is found on www.wmich.edu/registrar/SemesterStart-up.html.
Instructors are strongly encouraged to report students on their class list who are not attending, or students who are attending, but are not on the class list.
This process is now completely electronic –
When the instructor clicks submit, at the end of the report, an email notification will be sent to the student advising them that a registration discrepancy has been reported and what steps need to be taken to resolve it. An email will also come to the Registrar’s Office, we will attempt to follow up with the student, especially in cases where we have reports from more than one instructor that a student is not attending. A comment will also be added to Banner on the student's SGASTDN screen indicating the term and course that was reported.
Please do all you can to ensure that students are registered prior to census, including graduate enrollment, enrollments in independent studies, practicums, internships, seminars, etc. It’s to our benefit to do so, so that we count all students and credit hours in our census count on Sept. 9.
Please do not override any holds when registering students on SFAREGS. Please view the holds on SOAHOLD and make sure the holds are taken care of before registering students. If you have any questions on accounts regarding an AR hold (Accounts Receivable), A1 hold (Must Pay for Services When Due-Need Payment Agreement), or CO hold (collections hold), please call the Accounts Receivable office at 387-4141.
