Census

In preparation for census, to be taken tonight, please:

  • Ensure that all sections have an instructor of record in Banner, and that the instructors assigned are correct. This is critical so that census data correctly reflects instructional assignments.
  • Enroll all students prior to the end of the day on Monday, including graduate students, international students, etc. We want our census numbers to accurately reflect all students attending WMU courses.
  • Ensure that all sections currently on hold are either canceled or made active as appropriate, again by the end of the day on Monday.

Students not attending

As in the past, please ask instructors to report students not attending their courses through this email address: REG-Student-Attend@wmich.edu. We need to know the course, the CRN, and the student name; we will then contact the student and attempt to resolve any registration issues.  Instructors should also report any students attending their courses who are not on the class list.

Classroom issues

A reminder that problems with classrooms such as missing chairs, heating or cooling problems, etc., should be reported using the Classroom fixit website. This site can be accessed online at: broncofixit.pp.wmich.edu/classroom.html.  Or look for the classroom fixit icon on the top right on the Registrar’s website.

To have a locked room opened, instructors should contact the building coordinator/supervisor between 8-5, or DPS at 387-5555, Physical Plant or DPS staff will be dispatched.

Room requests

Please remind instructors that any room change requests they may have should be directed to the person in their department who does the room scheduling. That person can then make the request to this office. We’ll do what we can to meet any such requests, but it helps us a great deal if the requests come from one person in each area.

Also, note that we are working on fall 2008 room scheduling, but at this point all room assignments for fall are tentative. There is still much work to be done to complete fall assignments.

Textbooks online

Did you know that you can use the WMU Bookstore website to find out the textbook(s) required for any WMU course?  To find required textbooks for a section:

  • Go to: www.wmubookstore.com
  • Click on ‘Textbooks Online’, under the Textbook Alley heading
  • Scroll down to the bottom of the page, enter the semester, Department, Course and Section.

You will then see the textbook title(s), publisher, price, and other information.

Upcoming dates:

  • Jan. 14, 2008, Monday – Department clean up day, last day departments can make changes in student schedules
  • Jan. 14, 2008, Monday - Census Day
  • Jan. 15, 2008, Tuesday, Late add fee, $100, assessed when students add a course or courses and are not registered for any other WMU courses at this time
  • Jan. 21, 2008, Monday – MLK Day, no classes
  • Jan 21- 28, 2008 – Final review of Fall 2008 schedules
  • Jan. 28, 2008, Monday, Fall 2008 schedule corrections due in Registrar’s Office
  • Feb. 4, 2008, Monday – Summer I/II schedules available for viewing
  • Feb. 18, 2008, Monday- Summer I/II registration opens
  • Feb. 18 – March 9 – Midterm grading open

Refund dates:

Students who wish to drop/add courses after the drop/add period will receive refunds according to the following refund schedule:

Complete withdrawal from all WMU courses:

  • 90% refund through January 17, 2008
  • 50% refund through February 4, 2008
  • 25% refund through February 29, 2008

Partial withdrawals:

  • 50% refund through January 18, 2008

Students who wish to switch sections of a course are subject to the refund policies as listed above. Please ensure that if and when you give students department and instructor approval to make such a switch the student does understand that they will pay for the section added.
