Welcome back! As we wind down through the final weeks of the semester, here are some end of the semester reminders.
The schedule for final exams can be found on the Registrar’s website, see: www.wmich.edu/registrar/finalexam.html. All final exams are scheduled according to this schedule, in the classroom where the course normally meets, unless arrangements have been made with this office for a different room.
If there are needs for classroom space for review sessions or any other meetings during finals, please contact this office to reserve a room. We appreciate your help in eliminating any potential room conflicts so that finals can be given smoothly.
As usual, any make-up final exams are scheduled for Friday, Dec. 14th, from 12:30-2:30.
Grades are due by noon on Tuesday, December 18th. We will shut down the grading system a few minutes after noon so that we can complete the grade roll process. Please note that instructors cannot submit grades during this time. As soon as we complete the process, students will be able to view their grades online and instructors who have not submitted grades will be able to do so. Grading will remain open for 30 days.
It is important though, that as many grades as possible are submitted by the noon deadline. Students are waiting for their grades, some are graduating in December, and some are concerned about their academic standing. They all appreciate seeing their grades as soon as possible.
"X''—(Failure) Unofficial Withdrawal
The symbol "X'' is used to indicate that a student has never attended class or has discontinued attendance and does not qualify for the grade of " I.'' The "X'' will be computed into the student's grade point average, as a 0.0, the same as an 'E'.
When a student has either never attend the course, or has stopped attending and has not completed all the work but is not eligible for an incomplete, the ‘X’ grade is the appropriate grade.
This is a good time to review instructor assignments to ensure that all sections have the correct instructor of record prior to grading. Note that maintaining correct information on the faculty/advisor information form, SIAINST, is a department responsibility.
