I hope you enjoyed a beautiful Memorial Day, welcome back!
As you schedule your Spring 2008 courses, please remember to set realistic caps. When it comes time for registration to open, you can put any sections you’re unsure on hold. But for now, we need to know, as closely as possible, the size of the class so that we can assign an appropriate sized room. Also, please refer to the scheduling matrix, for approved scheduling parameters.
As a reminder, today, May 29, 2007, session limitations will be instituted in the SIS database. Questions should be directed to your security officer:
If you are in Academic Affairs, contact Kathy Rix, firstname.lastname@example.org
If you are in a Business Office, contact Sheila Atherton, email@example.com
If you are in Financial Aid, or BEST, contact David Ladd, firstname.lastname@example.org
If you are in Student Affairs, contact Chad Stec, email@example.com
A new service for students is now available through GoWMU. WMU students now have the ability to grant view access to third party individuals (such as parents, spouses, or others) to view certain academic and financial aid information. In compliance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 (FERPA), student financial and academic records may not be shared with a third party without written consent. Note that:
The new information the student can grant view access to include the following:
Information for students can be found on www.wmich.edu/registrar/pdf/authorizeduser_student-instructions.pdf
Information for authorized users can be found on www.wmich.edu/registrar/pdf/authorizeduser_thirdparty-instructions.pdf
This ‘authorized user’ access will give students control over who may view their academic and financial aid information; they can have multiple authorized users and they can revoke the access at any time. We hope that this will encourage dialogue between students and their parents, and as well that it will reduce students sharing their Bronco NetID and password with their families.
Please let me know if you have any questions on authorized user access.
