Census

The fall 2006 census is available on the Institutional Research website: www.wmich.edu/ir/er06/dosefall06.pdf. The fall enrollment total is 24,841.

Room issues

I ask for your help in reminding all instructors that all scheduled classes must meet in the classroom assigned. The reasons this is so important include:

• When the Registrar's Office receives a call from a family needing to locate their son or daughter quickly, we need to know where that student's class is.
• In case of a building emergency, we need to be able to identify the classes inside.
• Currently there are ongoing classroom technology upgrades; these are scheduled around classes. Lately there have been instances where a classroom which was not scheduled is found to have a class in it when the crew goes to begin work. This will slow the upgrade process.

If there are any concerns or issues related to an assigned classroom, please contact the Registrar's Office, we'll do all we can to correct the problem or find an alternate location for the class.

Upcoming dates

• Oct. 2nd - Summer I/II 2007 schedules due in the Registrar's Office.
• Oct. 6 to 9 - SISis unavailable due to upgrade to SIS7.3
• Oct. 10 - SIS7.3 upgrade complete.
• Oct. 11th - Spring 2007 schedules available for viewing through GoWMU.
• Oct. 23rd - Spring 2007 registration begins.
• Dec. 1 - Deadline for students to apply for April 2007 graduation.

SISupgrade

The University's Student Information System (SIS) will be down for a scheduled major upgrade from 5 AM Friday, Oct. 6 through 8 AM Tuesday, Oct. 10. This will affect several key online services for students, faculty and staff. This upgrade will provide users the most current and functional version of SISavailable. Although the online systems will not be available during the upgrade, Admissions, Financial Aid, Registrar, Cashiering and Accounts Receivable will be open normal business hours to assist students. Your patience is appreciated as we install and test these upgrades throughout the long weekend.

GoWMU will be functional during the upgrade for WebVista, WebMail and WebCheck. Some channels will not display in the portal. Cognos functionality will be available; however, the data will be current only as of Thursday, October 5th.
