The ongoing renovations of Brown and Kohrman Halls have made room scheduling for this fall quite a challenge for my office. At this point, I want to make you all aware that we will not be making any room changes for Fall 2006 unless there are extenuating circumstances. Nor will we process any capacity changes for fall courses which exceed room capacity. Having done room scheduling for the Math Department for many years I well understand how many reasons faculty have for requesting room changes. And many of these are certainly reasonable. However we simply don't have any flexibility this fall.
You can all help by canceling any courses which are not going to run in the fall. Today there are 80 sections on hold for the fall semester, all of which have a room assigned. As soon as you know that a section on hold will not run, please do the paperwork to let us know.
We will do all we can to ensure that all courses meet in appropriate rooms, given the current limitations we face. Please contact me with any concerns or questions you have.
WMU will again, as last fall, host a One-Stop shop for all students August 29th - Sept. 8th in the Bernhard Center. Dates and times are:
Please remind all staff not to give WIN's out over the phone. In a recent situation, a student was given a WIN which belonged to another student, over the phone, resulting in charges being added the wrong account, a housing assignment given incorrectly, etc.
The fall 2006 refund policy and dates are available online at www.obf.wmich.edu/accounting-services/docs/refundpolicy.pdf.
A reminder that the Ombuds Office did close at the end of June. A website with a list of offices available to assist students, as well as commonly requested forms can be found at: www.wmich.edu/registrar/Ombuds/. Students applying for a late withdrawal, that is a withdrawal after a grade has been assigned for a semester, can find the form on this website. These forms should be returned to the Registrar's Office. Any questions on the late withdrawal process should be directed to the Registrar's Office, 387-4310.
Related to the re-organization in the College of Education, the following new department codes have been added to SIS:
I hope that you enjoy the last few weeks of summer! As always, please let me know of any concerns or questions you have.
