Registrar’s Notes – May 13, 2013

May 13, 2013

The official census count for the Summer I session will be taken at the end of the day today.  It is important that all students attending Summer I courses are registered in Banner today so they can be accurately reflected in our census numbers.   In addition, please ensure that all sections have the correct instructor of record listed and that all sections on hold have been cancelled or made active.

Waitlisting has ended for Summer I.  Any students on a waitlist for a Summer I section have been dropped.  Departments may add students into waitlisted sections today as they see appropriate.
Summer I 2013 Registration Changes

Departments have access to add students to Summer I courses through the end of the day today.  After today students will need to submit a completed Permission to Late Add form to the Registrar’s Office in order to add a course.  The form can be on the Registrar’s Office website at:

Students adding their first course after today will be assessed a late add fee of $100 per class.

Students dropping today will receive a 100% refund.   After today students will receive a 50% refund for a complete withdraw through Monday, May 20.   A 25% refund will be granted for complete withdraws from Tuesday, May 21 to Friday, May 31.

A 24-hour grace period is provided to students who drop a course that meets for the first time on or after the end of the drop/add period.  Students dropping a class within 24 hours of the start date should contact the Registrar’s Office to make sure they receive the correct refund.

Grade mode and credit hour changes

At this point in the semester students can no longer change from a letter grade to credit/no credit, or from credit/no credit to a letter grade.   Students are also unable to decrease credit hours in a variable credit course.   According to university policy, changes to the grade mode and the credit hour range can only be done through the end of the drop/add period.

Degree Works Update
After a yearlong implementation we are just a few weeks away from going live with Degree Works.   The Degree Works system is currently being moved to the production environment.     During this transition period, the Degree Works test system will be unavailable.  Any security access granted to the test system will not carry forward to production.  In order to gain access to the Degree Works system on June 1, you will be required to complete a new Degree Works security access form.   The form has been added to the Student Systems Security Access Center in GoWMU.  Once completed, it should be returned to the Registrar’s Office.

If you are interested in learning more about Degree Works, there is still time to sign up for the May 20 or May 21 training sessions.   The May 20 session will be held at 2:00 p.m. and the May 21 session at 9:00 a.m.   Please contact Laura Thomas ( to reserve a spot.
