It's finals week again, another semester is quickly winding down.
Please review your sections to ensure that each section has an instructor of record and that it is the correct instructor. As you know, only the instructor of record can submit grades, and only the department can assign an instructor to a section.
Grades are due Tuesday, May 2nd at noon. Shortly after noon we will shut down the system so that we can process grades and roll them to academic history. During this time, instructors will not be able to submit grades.
Students will not be able to see their grades until we've processed them; this will be sometime mid to late afternoon.
Please remind instructors that when they submit an incomplete they also need to submit the report of incomplete grade form which can be found on GoWMU. After clicking on Faculty in Academic Services, it is listed under "Forms and websites of special interest to Faculty" on the right side of the page.
Late drops will be accepted in the Registrar's Office through Friday, April 28th, at 5:00. University policy on late drops is that the student is passing the course and extenuating circumstances have occurred.
Please note that FERPA rules prohibit giving grades over the phone. Also the only way that grades can be legally posted, is by a unique identifier known only to the instructor and the student. This would not include SSN or WIN or any part of the SSN or WIN.
Questions
on submitting grades can be directed to this office; contact:
Carrie Cumming, carrie.cumming@wmich.edu,
378-4325
Michele McLaughlin, michele.mclaughlin@wmich.edu,
387-3869
Laura Thomas, laura.thomas@wmich.edu,
387-4308
As in the past year, we will leave grading open for about 30 days past May 2nd. However instructors need to be aware that not submitting a grade for a student by the due date can cause problems with the students' academic standing, graduation, financial aid, etc.
Ticket distribution at the bookstore begins today, Monday; each student is given 4 tickets. Extra tickets will be available on first-come first-served basis to students starting Friday, April 28th at 8:00 am at the Bronco Ticket Office in the University Arena.
My thanks to those of you assisting on Saturday. I also appreciate all the Faculty and Chairs who attend. All of our students and their families appreciate your time and efforts to make this commencement a special day.
Have a great week,
Barbara
