
Positioned at various points on the race course, course marshals ensure runners follow the route and don’t stray or cut corners. Course marshals also provide water and cheer the runners on as they pass. Course marshals work throughout the race.
Positioned at the finish line, finish line reporters, who work from the beginning of the race until the end, often are asked about race result posting and after-race activities. Finish line reporters must be able to yell.
Logistics volunteers assist with early morning race course barricades and traffic control beginning at 6 a.m.
Registration assistants are needed for a variety of stations, including check-in of other volunteers and pre-registered runners, distribution of their materials, late registration of runners, ensuring waiver cards are assigned, distributing recording chips to runners, and distributing T-shirts to race entrants. This shift begins at about 6:45 a.m.
A few registration assistants are needed to assist during the afternoon and evening of Friday, Oct. 23 from 3:15 to 8 p.m. at the Bernhard Center. These assistants help runners and walkers register, pick-up shirts and answer any general questions.
A limited number of volunteers work in the information and first aid tent generally from 7:30 to 11 a.m. Under the direction of medical personnel, volunteers provide assistance to any injured race participant. Knowledge of health care preferred but not required.
