Presidential Scholar Award

Students are nominated by faculty. Nominated students must submit a one-page biography and a copy of their transcript. There is no application form.

The amount of the award will be at least $250.00, payable in the winter semester during the year of the award. One award will be made to the finalist and paid through the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships.

ELIGIBILITY: To be eligible for the Psychology Alumni Scholarship, a candidate must:

1. Be a declared psychology major and enrolled in that degree program in the College of Arts and Sciences at Western Michigan University at the time of application.

2. Have a minimum overall grade point average of 3.0.

3. At the time of application have between 26 and 100 credit hours.(Note: students with transfer credit must have completed a minimum of 21 credit hours at Western Michigan University at the time of application.)

4. Be enrolled in 12 credit hours at Western Michigan University during the semester in which the award is paid.

 

ELIGIBILITY: To be eligible for the Fred P. Gault, Sr. Memorial Scholarship Award, a candidate must:

1. Be a Native American student with an expressed interest in a psychology major in the College of Arts and Sciences at Western Michigan University at the time of application.

2. Be enrolled in 12 credit hours at Western Michigan University during the semester in which the award is paid.

ELIGIBILITY: To be elibible for the Presidential Scholar Award, a candidate must:

1) Be a psychology major

2) Be a senior who will have comleted at least 88 credit hours by beginning of spring semester

3) someone who has demonstrated outstanding academic accomplishments (within and outside the department) and generally represents teh best of the current majors.

CRITERIA: The qualifications of applicants for the award will be evaluated in accordance with the following standards of excellence:

1. Scholarly performance

2. Independent research or creative activity

3. Participation in departmental activity

4. Future goals
