For each position vacancy, a job description is to be prepared which delineates as clearly as possible the nature of the position. At the same time, the description should provide maximum flexibility for the department in meeting its staffing needs.
The description should summarize the position to be filled in a sufficiently clear manner so that potential candidates can reasonably understand the requirements and responsibilities. Such items as the courses to be taught, special skills, and the minimum requirements should be stated. Application procedures also should be specified.
