Heraclitean Society Essay Prize

Each year, the Heraclitean Society conducts the Heraclitean Society Essay Prize competition, and awards $1000 in prizes to graduate students in the WMU Department of Philosophy who submit the best philosophy papers to the competition. Typically, the awards include one $500 prize and two $250 prizes.

Prize-winning papers are published in the "Proceedings of the Heraclitean Society." Students are encouraged to submit their papers for publication or presentation elsewhere, as well.

For the 2002-2003 school year, the award winners were John Shoemaker, Aaron Cobb and Jeffrey Grupp.

Papers for the competition are accepted at the end of the Fall semester, and the award is made early in the Spring semester. For more information, contact the department.
